BURO Beauty Desk: The best new makeup that we’re wearing this month

In our makeup stash this month: Chanel liquid liners, Gucci beauty powder, lippies from Fenty Beauty and Benefit Cosmetics and more

Now that you’ve stocked up on your skincare stash, don’t miss out on the latest makeup launches that are hitting the shelves this month.

Ahead, our team’s favourite makeup picks, from Chanel’s latest liquid eyeliner that comes in the prettiest jewel tones and Marc Jacobs’ new At Lash’d mascara, to lip-loving lip products from Fenty Beauty (an absolute tongue twister) and more:

Chanel Le Liner De Chanel

“If you’re an avid fan of liquid liners (like yours truly) and have always wanted to jazz up your eye makeup with coloured options, keep your eyes peeled for Chanel’s Le Liner—available in a range of shades, from gunmetal grey to smouldering brown. My personal favourite is 516 Rouge Noir, a deep burgundy that’s stunning when paired with this eyeshadow palette.

“The brush applicator leaves a generous amount of product on the lash line—one stroke is all you need, really. The super fine brush tip may be easy breezy for pro liquid liner users but for beginners, this tutorial may help you ace your cat eye effortlessly. What I like to do is take the excess off the brush by swiping it on the rim of the tube before application. The formula stayed on for an impressive eight hours, with no noticeable smudging or flaking.” – Loh Wei Yeen, Deputy Editor

Available at Chanel Beauty boutiques and counters at departmental stores nationwide.

Marc Jacobs At Lash’d Lengthening & Curling Mascara

Marc Jacobs At Lash'd Mascara review

“The spidery lash look may be eww-inducing to some but I admit that I’ve been digging it recently. There’s no better way to pull off clumpy lashes than to make it a trend, and Marc Jacobs Beauty’s new mascara can do just that, and more. The sleek gold design is easy on the eyes, and the wand’s bristles are great for coating every single lash without clumping it up. I like that it’s lightweight and buildable, so you can definitely layer it on for Twiggy-esque lashes, or go with one coat for a natural look.

“While my lashes looked impressively lengthened (with added volume too), the mascara didn’t exactly hold the curl as much as I’d like it to—then again, my stubborn lashes fare better (curl-wise) with waterproof mascaras. I didn’t spot any smudging at the end of the day, plus it’s a breeze to remove—score if you’re looking for a mascara to give you lashes for miles.” — Loh Wei Yeen, Deputy Editor

Gucci Poudre De Beauté Mat Naturel – Beauty Powder

Gucci beauty powder review

“Gucci’s new beauty powder is an accessory in its own right—the pale pink compact with gold detailing makes for a vanity and purse must-have. Aside from its looks, the powder does a solid job of mattifying my skin and evening out uneven skin tone.

“I’m not huge on powders—unless it’s translucent finishing powder, but this works well on top of foundation or on its own, just to give my skin a velvety finish. It isn’t going to leave your skin dewy or glowy, but it feels comfortable and doesn’t cake or sink into dry/fine lines. The powder is buildable, and I like that it delivered on coverage with just a few pats allover the face. Extra points go to the refillable compact.” — Loh Wei Yeen, Deputy Editor

Fenty Beauty Slip Shine Sheer Shiny Lipstick

Fenty Beauty Slip Shine Lipstick review

“A lipstick for all occasions, lip shades (yes, it’s a thing) and it doesn’t just come in one shade of “nude”? Rihanna has done it once again and we stan. The Slip Shine Sheer Shiny Lipstick will feel a lot like a tinted lip balm at first, but then it astounds you with the excellent colour payoff.

“The lipstick’s creamy formula is the easiest to glide on (no mirrors needed), is buildable (quite like my favourite Cheeks Out Freestyle Blush), and kept my lips moisturised all day (thanks to pomegranate butter). New favourite shade: Goji Gang, an ultra-pretty mauve. Did I mention that I’m slightly obsessed with the scent? It’s almost good enough to eat.” – Loh Wei Yeen, Deputy Editor

Benefit Cosmetics California Kissin ColourBalm

Benefit California Kissin Colour Balm review

“I usually layer a balm under my lipstick because my lips get dry easily, but although this means my lips stay hydrated, it also means that my lipsticks never last very long. With that in mind, I don’t know why I never thought to invest in a tinted lip balm before—I mean, I’ve really been missing out!

“The California Kissing ColourBalm glides on smoothly, the colour stays put and it has a really sweet, pleasant smell. Plus, it holds up well to food and drink (I didn’t end up smearing it everywhere or rubbing it all off) and keeps my lips feeling nice and soft all day. Could I ask for more?” – Redzhanna Jazmin, Editorial Assistant
