Peony Lim: My 6 best beauty secrets

To maintain a flawless complexion, I drink plenty of water, never go to sleep with my makeup on, and always use a proper cleanser, not wipes! If ever in doubt about your skin, see a good dermatologist – this decision can really change your skin’s life.”

For healthy lashes, I try not to wear mascara everyday to ensure my lashes stay healthy and strong. I also keep refreshing eye drops in the fridge all year round to keep my eyes calm and clear.”

To keep my hair thick and luscious, I use Philip Kingsley twice a month. I work the treatment into my hair, wrap it with a towel and leave it on overnight for extra nourishment, before washing it out in the morning. Never style your hair with a dryer or tongs more than once a week. I always use a heat protector when I do, and I never straighten my hair. Also, do not avoid going to the hairdresser’s, they do wonders in helping you keep split ends at bay.”

For my nails, I’m a little naughty and I’m probably one of the last people around who still have acrylic nails! I tried shellac but I found it did more damage to my nails then acrylics – which seem to be fine years later. Listen to your body: if it doesn’t like polish or gels don’t use them. Tip: you can always keep your nails short and buffed so they will always look chic. I like a rounded nail and a natural look, so my acrylics are very thin and light.”

My signature red lip alternates between these three: Chanel, Tom Ford and NARS. Tom Ford is great for colour and moisture, which makes it really comfortable to wear all day. NARS has great shades and staying power, so it dries my lips a little, but because I love the colour, I’ll wear it for shorter appointments like to a lunch or an event.

Chanel is a great all-rounder. My signature colours are Tom Ford‘s Ruby Rush and Quiver. I always use a lip balm before applying lipstick, and when I am putting on a red lip, I always use a lip liner so the colour stays put without bleeding.”

My body and bath ritual at home is simple, but effective. I’m a big believer in a simple oil-infused bath followed by a shower to cure dry post-holiday skin – the bath softens the dry skin, while a good body brush in the shower after removes dead skin cells, leaving my skin super soft. Always follow with a good body butter afterwards.”

“Right now, my makeup bag consists of an Eve Lom Cleanser, Dior Mascara, Crème de La Mer lip balm, Mason Pearson hair brush and a by terry tinted moisturiser, which are all I really need before I head out the door.”
